We may be poised to react in ways that seem impulsive or unnecessary to a neutral state of mind.
While there is no excuse for bad behavior, we cannot approach these situations at the aggressor's level because that is not who we are.
Responding to the situation with anger or vengeance only digs a deeper hole and quite frankly sabotages our character.
However, thinking at a higher level, from a place of empathy and love, allows us to take a step back and realize that perhaps that problem isn't with the other person, perhaps it is just the way we perceive the problem.
